In short

Unibet remains the benchmark for market depth in France. Its offer covers almost every competition followed in the country, from second-tier football to minor tennis tournaments, with unusually broad in-running coverage. Margins on headline fixtures are among the tightest we have recorded. The trade-off is a dense interface that takes time to learn, and a mobile experience that favours functional richness over simplicity.

Regulatory status

Unibet is operated in France by SPS Betting France Limited. The company holds an online sports betting licence numbered 0007-PS-2025-07-09-AGR-03, issued by the ANJ under decision No. 2025-128 of 17 June 2025.

The licence took effect on 9 July 2025 for a five-year term, expiring on 8 July 2030. It covers online sports betting in both pool and fixed-odds form, and applies to the unibet.fr domain name. The AGR-03 suffix indicates a renewal: the operator was among the very first licensed when the French market opened in 2010, under sequence number 0007.

Like every French licence, it is non-transferable: it cannot be sold or moved to another company. The full text of the decision is available on Légifrance, and the entry in the ANJ public register can be cross-checked at any time. Both links appear in the verification panel above.

Odds and margins

Each week we record the odds offered across five reference competitions — Ligue 1, the Champions League, the NBA, the ATP tour and the Top 14 — at comparable times, the evening before the fixture. On the main markets of major football fixtures, Unibet sits consistently at the sharper end of the French market.

The gap widens on secondary markets: corner counts, goalscorers, cards, points spreads. This is historically where the brand distinguishes itself, with margins tighter than the average we record across the regulated French market.

Tennis is more mixed. On main-tour tournaments the offer is competitive; on lower-ranked events margins widen appreciably, which remains a characteristic shared across the French market as a whole.

Coverage and in-running

Breadth is the brand's main asset. European football down to third divisions, American and continental basketball, rugby, handball, cycling, combat sports, Nordic disciplines: few competitions followed in France are missing from the catalogue.

In-running betting is offered across a high volume of simultaneous fixtures, with contextual statistics and visual tracking that lets you place an incident without a video feed. Odds refresh latency is sound, without being the fastest we have measured in the French market.

Cash-out is available on a large share of singles and accumulators, with restrictions flagged at the point of confirmation. We suggest checking eligibility before confirming a stake if that option matters to you.

Usability and registration

The interface embraces its density: many markets are visible at once, which serves the experienced bettor but can disorient a newcomer. The search bar and favourites partly offset that complexity.

On mobile, recorded load times remain satisfactory under normal conditions, with a perceptible lengthening at peak hours, typically late on Saturday afternoons.

Account opening follows the French framework: identity, address, bank details and supporting documents. Verification is a condition for approving withdrawals. We suggest submitting documents when you open the account rather than at the point of a first withdrawal, to avoid a delay at the worst moment.

Customer support and moderation

French-language support is reachable by live chat and email, with a well-structured help centre covering most first-line questions. Our weekday enquiries received a first response within a reasonable time; major fixture nights lengthen that noticeably.

The moderation tools required by the French framework are present and easy to reach: deposit and stake limits, activity history, temporary suspension and self-exclusion are two clicks away from the account area, with no phone call required. This is a point on which the brand sits above the market average.

Prevention messages and access to Joueurs Info Service are visible in the footer, in line with the obligations applying to licensed operators in France.

Who is it for?

Unibet suits the bettor who wants breadth: numerous secondary markets, niche competitions and rich in-running coverage. Tight margins on headline fixtures reinforce that appeal.

A newcomer who values immediate familiarity will find the interface demanding. In that case, restricting navigation to favourite competitions sidesteps most of the density.

A reminder: this is an editorial review, not a recommendation. It contains no tips and guarantees no winnings.
